In this Entertainment Weekly article, Lea Michele's rep clarifies that she is not actively in talks to be in the Spring Awakening movie at the moment, despite other sites suddenly claiming she was. She does say, however, that she has previously discussed possibly being in the movie and that "we'll see what happens."
In this video interview, McG talks a bit about the Spring Awakening film, which he is set to direct. He calls Spring Awakening his "passion project" and says he will do a "Baz Luhrmann take" on it and describes it as "youth against establishment."
This time a more positive review of the San Jose Rep's production from an Examiner theater writer who says "what works so well for the show is that even though we live in modern times, where shock value is all but an afterthought, the show still feels risqué, dangerous, and thrilling."
This reviewer from a Christian standpoint felt the musical at the San Jose Rep in California "tried too hard to be shocking" but "it is a theatre's job to take risks" and "the Rep's performance and artisitic influence is exemplary."
